One of our friends, Kate Citron (you can read more about her here) has been enjoying the last few years working at Well+Good. We think her life is so fascinating we wanted you to know about it too 😉 Full disclosure – we thoroughly enjoy stalking her through IG, Facebook, Snapchat and basically any other behind-the-scenes source we have. She gets to try all the latest workouts and works on amazing projects like curating the Fall 2016 Adidas Avenue A box.
We were curious as to how a Well+Good staffer spends her day, so we asked Kate for some tips on how to incorporate wellness into your life 7 days a week. Here’s what she had to say….
START THE MORNING STRONG
I typically wake up around 6am to workout either at at WillyB Crossfit or the gym near my apartment. I try to drink a glass or two of water before black cold brew coffee but can’t usually stomach food at that hour of the morning!
TIPS FOR MAINTAINING A HEALTHY DIET DURING THE WORK WEEK
I aim to bring lunch from home daily, which obviously doesn’t always happen 🙂 Luckily there are tons of healthy spots near my office in FiDi like The Juice Shop, Dig Inn and Sweetgreen. When I do remember to pack lunch, I throw together a giant salad the night before with whatever veggies I have in my fridge, hummus and a vegetarian source of protein.
TIPS FOR MAINTAINING A FITNESS PLAN DURING THE WORK WEEK
My #1 tip for maintaining a fitness plan is to find a workout that you genuinely enjoy. We live in a city with so many different options which can be very overwhelming at times, but ClassPass and FitReserve can be a huge help in the discovery process. Community is also incredibly important—nothing is more motivating than knowing you’ll see friends at the gym or in the fitness studio. Over the past year, I’ve fallen in love [with] CrossFit, weightlifting and hot yoga. I make time for each every week and also am lucky to be able to sample new workouts across the city through Well+Good.
FAVORITE FITNESS TRENDS
Boxing has been trending over the past year and it’s something I find it incredibly cathartic. Title Boxing Club and Shadowbox are two of my favorites to incorporate into my fitness routine when I have time.
FAVORITE FOOD TRENDS
I’m a huge fan of matcha right now (one of Well+Good’s 2016 Wellness Trends) and am excited to see new cafes like Cha Cha Matcha popping up all over the city. I’m also happy to see poke slowly making it’s way to Manhattan from the west coast. So far I’ve only tried Wisefish in Chelsea but am planning to visit a few others before the summer is over!
HOW DOES THE “WELL+GOOD LIFESTYLE” FIT INTO YOUR PLANS WHILE OUT OF OFFICE?
I absolutely love the Well+Good lifestyle and truly live the brand, even while I’m out of office. Over the weekends and vacation, I find time to move/sweat every single day to balance out extra drinks and meals out. It’s absolutely challenging to find perfect balance, but I believe the pursuit is important.
