Who else loves you as unconditionally as your BEST FRIEND? She really knows and, more often than not, keeps all your secrets. She remembers how many boys you kissed last year, how drunk you got that one time in Mexico, and how hard you cried over The Thorn Birds book. She also knows such embarrassing things about you that you swore a “bestie oath” to cherish and to love and never cross that gal!
But the most fun part of having a bestie is that she shares so many interests with you! And if she doesn’t…Well, she adores you just enough to be dragged to Comic Con and listen to hours of an uncontrollable rant about your ex-boyfriend.
If you are lucky and you and your favorite member of the girl squad live in New York, or you two are visiting the Big Apple together, read further! I have selected my TOP 10 different things to do with your bestie in the city:
If you think museums are for boring old people, think again! Museums and exhibition visits are a great way to not only educate yourself, but also to share your thoughts, knowledge and even dreams while you wander the halls of The MET and others.
I recently took my friend to the Cooper Hewitt’s The Jazz Age exhibition, and we had a great time staring and admiring ridiculously expensive diamond necklaces, luxurious decor items and imagined how awesome it would be to live as one of the Vanderbilts or Rockefellers in 1920’s. Of course afterwards we came home and re-watched “The Great Gatsby” for the fifth time!
If you are really not into art, history or architecture, there is still a museum in New York that might interest you and your friend. From the kinky and fun Museum of Sex to the Whitney Museum of American Art.
Aerial class is more fun than any workout you have ever tried! Take your girl to the SKYBOX Aerial Circus Class at Om Factory, and pretend you are about to get cast for the next Cirque du Soleil show.
A board game library? A group of other awesome people who wants to play games? Coffee? Cider? Cheap prices?! YES! The Uncommons is seriously one of my favorite places to hang out with friends on a rainy day. This board games cafe is located on the 230 Thompson Street and you and your friend will definitely have a blast there!
Drinking Hot Chocolate at MarieBelle
Take your bestie to drink the best hot chocolate in the city, and get a delicious Marie Antoinette chocolate ganache cake for an ultimate ‘I-might-get-diabetes-but-this-is-too-good’. MarieBelle is located on the 484 Broome Street. I take ALL of my closest friends to this beautiful cafe!
Escape Rooms and Immersive Experiences
New York has many Escape rooms and quests. One of my favorites is by Komnata Quest. They have many interesting mysteries that you can solve with your besties, from murder quests to the Game of Thrones inspired immersive stories.
It doesn’t matter if your neighbor’s dog can draw better with his paw than you two do. PaintNite events are a fun way to learn how to draw, and just have a great time creating something while drinking wine (Yes. Wine is an important bonus!).
Who said that Halloween is the only time you should wear Medieval clothes or your best Daenerys Targaryen wig? Book your tickets to the New York Renaissance Faire or New York Comic Con now! Your bestie might be excited or she might be weirded out, but that is definitively an unusual experience that can bond you even more. If that is not enough for you, think of all the silly pictures you are going to take together!
Nothing can beat and old good shopping day in Soho or 5th Avenue with your BFF. Nothing Medieval this time though.
Living in New York and not going to a Broadway show at least once a month is SIN. My latests, bestie friendly musicals include Miss Saigon, The Phantom of the Opera and Anastasia!
Netflix and Chill
And by chill I mean wear your favorite pjs, buy a pizza, pour some rosé and binge watch Gossip Girl, Outlander, 13 Reasons Why or whatever show you both openly or secretly adore. After all, no matter in what city you live in, that is one of the most pleasant ways to spend evenings with your best friend!
