Take advantage of sunny, summer days by spending them outside as often as possible! When summertime rolls around, New York City embraces the warmer weather by opening up their doors to decked-out patios and rooftop bars. One of my favorite outdoor hangouts is just over the Hudson in Hoboken, NJ – the little secret that Manhattan is hiding! Hoboken is a fun city that emulates the West Village with brownstone-lined streets, while also jam-packing as many bars as possible onto each block (no complaints, here!) Pier 13, a lively beer garden, extends out into the Hudson River and overlooks the Manhattan skyline – the best view of New York I’ve ever seen!
At Pier 13, you can enjoy specialty food from numerous, changing food trucks, along with tons of delicious (and boozy) drinks! Pier 13 is just one pier away from the 14th Street NY Waterway Ferry stop in Hoboken, so it’s easily accessible to those who live in Manhattan. If you’re not the day-drinking type, Pier 13 offers kayaking and paddle boarding, as well (Note: would not suggest day drinking and kayaking). They also offer jet skiing tours – which I didn’t know about until now, and definitely want to try! Some of my favorite food trucks are the Mac Truck (Pulled Pork Mac & Cheese…yes) and Amanda’s Bananas (healthy ice cream?!) On Mondays, Pier 13 holds Mini Golf nights, and on Tuesdays they project popular movies at Movies on the Pier.
Make sure to spend a sunny weekend day at Pier 13 – you won’t regret it (unless you drink too much).
