Last week, we talked to our good friend from the south, Macy Sirmans, who moved to NYC to start an amazing career at Southern Living magazine.
As an expert on southern culture and a true dessert aficionado, Macy shared her all-time favorite recipe from home (in Georgia). She says the name [of the recipe] is “not elegant, but delicious” – it’s called… dump cake! What is “dump cake” you might ask? It basically involves “dumping” a bunch of pre-made ingredients into one dish… AKA this is super easy, but it makes you look like you made the effort to actually bake something 😉 The dessert was such a hit with our live audience, we promised to share it on Out Of Office NY.
Dump Cake is the perfect dessert for fall football season, a host(ess) gift for that friend who had you out to their house in the Hamptons all weekend, or an just an easy thing to whip together and eat on the couch while watching Netflix, so you don’t have to order that $20 dessert from Seamless…
Macy’s Dump Cake Recipe:
Mix 1 can of pineapple and 1 can of another fruit (i.e cherries, bluberries)
Layer on a box of white cake mix
Add 2 sticks of butter – slice of them up a little
For protein – you can sprinkle a few nuts on top
Bake 1 hour at 350 degreed and it’s ready to eat
