Winter has come and gone, but our skin is still suffering.
The frigid temperatures, constant radiator heat and wind tunnels between avenues have left our skin dry and dehydrated.
A few weeks ago, I thought nothing would save my skin from eventual ruin. I’ve tried a few mists in the past and was less than impressed, but a friend told me the key to an effective face mist is to ensure it contains mostly for-skin oils and antioxidants rather than ingredients that only deliver a temporary blast of moisture (a.k.a. water). Upon her advice, I tried face mists again – and I’m now so in love that I’m planning to incorporate new mists into my beauty routine for EVERY season!
Lucky for us, there’s a face mist for every skin type and every condition! Here are a few recommendations.
This is the one I’m currently using, and I’m obsessed! It contains Tibetan Ginseng to increase skin-cell respiration and help skin maintain essential moisture. It also has Lavender, Geranium and Rosemary to detoxify and help protect skin from environmental aggressors.
I notice such a difference when I’m washing my face at the end of the day. My skin feels so soft and smooth. I also like that this can be applied under or over makeup. When skin starts drying in the middle of the day, you don’t want to slather on moisturizer and ruin your makeup. This spray delivers much needed hydration without disrupting your chic work look. Tip: keep on your desk and spritz throughout the day.
If you know me, you know I’m super pale, and all about that year-round SPF.
I love the Supergoop! Setting Mist because it does so many things with just a few spritzes. The three-in-one mist with rosemary sets makeup, controls oil and delivers UV photoaging protection. Plus, it has a matte finish – YAY for not looking shiny! For a spray packed with so much goodness, it honestly feels weightless on your face!
Bonus: the website says it’s good for all skin types!
3. Baby Face Mist – Collagen ($12)
I couldn’t live without my Korean beauty products!
The Baby Mist line from Aritaum has three different versions that all serve a different purpose! One has Hyaluronic Acid and aloe vera for hydration, one has tea tree oil for blemish control, and our personal favorite contains collagen and honey to firm and plump. We recommend the collagen spray to look AND feel a quick refresh before an important meeting, a date or just because.
4. Mario Badescu Facial Spray ($7)
Another one of my personal faves, this facial spray with aloe, herb, and rosewater smells like you just stepped out of the spa! It is a refreshing, hydrating mist formulated as a pick-me-up for dehydrated, tight, and uncomfortable skin. I like to use this one in the summer as a refreshing treat because it’s light and non-greasy.
Bonus: You can also spray on hair to refresh and give a subtle boost of hydration. Do you use face mists? And what’s your favorite one?!
