Good news, everyone! You no longer have to waste cute pajamas on a night of binge watching Neflix because now you can wear pajamas anywhere (yes, even the office). Sound crazy? Nah. Here’s how to take your sleepwear to the streets.
Slippers as shoes
What do the “must-have shoe for the summer”, going out clothes and Inception all have in common? They all have to do with waking and sleeping being one and the same. The trendy shoe of the summer are these fur slides, very similar to the slippers I wore around the house as a kid. Do not get these confused with flip-flops! They are two different things. These chic slides are now worn by hip fashionistas, and are being made by popular shoe brands such as Steve Madden.
Pajamas as evening wear (to go out in!)
If you Google “pajama trend”, you will see that pajamas have subtly been a trend for quite some time. Go back to the Calvin Klein slip worn in the movie “Clueless”. Slip dresses have made quite the comeback, as well as their shorter companion, the lace camisole. You probably notice this go-to outfit as the “off-duty” model look, and a popular choice for fashion bloggers paired with a leather jacket, jeans and heels/booties of some sort.
It girls are wearing their kimonos as part of their everyday outfits, slippers are now considered cool street shoes, and cotton pajama shorts are practically everywhere. Even the “oversized t-shirt pajama type”, once considered only acceptable for loungewear or going to the gym, are paired with cute shorts or tucked into a skirt for daywear. It is really nice to be able to crawl into bed with the same clothes you are going to wake up in to wear for the day.
