I don’t know if it’s New York or working for OOONY, but some Mondays feel like Saturdays – just a continuation of the weekend party. For instance, one Monday I got to go to an album release party for a really cool & talented musician, Drew Vision. At the event (which took place downstairs at the Hunt & Fish Club – who knew this spot was so cool?) he launched his new album & music video. It was a pretty intimate group of Drew’s closest supporters and friends sipping signature cocktails, swaying to the beat of his smooth R&B songs and uncontrollably grinning at Drew’s ability to woo a crowd. Drew makes everyone feel comfortable, like you know him, so it was really fun to interview him and hear more about his journey through the music industry.
I found out that Drew began singing pretty early on at the age of 5 – every Sunday at his church. His parents wanted all of their children to offer something to the church….little did they know how passionate Drew would become, building a career on his church singing foundation. Drew went on to attend a music school on a full scholarship and took all music related classes (including singing) in different languages…so crazy!! His first album was released in 2010 & I’m so glad I got to help him celebrate the release of his third album this year 🙂
I remember thinking “this guy is so sweet”! When I asked Drew who his biggest supporters were, he didn’t hesitate to say how supportive his family has been – his sisters have even sung with him which I could tell was very special for him. Drew also said that he has received a ton of support from online fans – some have been there from the start – and he really appreciates that! He is getting to know those fans and now he even recognizes some of their faces in the crowd!
To me, one of the coolest things about Drew is how invested he is in the creation of his music. He is really involved in the whole process – he even writes a lot of content. Drew Vision is definitely someone to look out for in the Rhythm & Blues genre and is traveling a lot this upcoming year. He has a true gift – not just the singing in the shower type gift – and will go far with his kind personality.
You can listen to all of his music on soundcloud.com/DrewVision and you would regret it if you didn’t go listen to it all now. Point is: Drew is awesome & so is his music!
P.S. His new music video for his song Sanctify is amazing – you can watch it here! https://www.youtube.com/user/DrewVision
