NYC is one of the best places for celebrating holidays in a BIG way. For Halloween, New Yorkers are not satisfied with a simple trick-or-treat, and instead opt for lavish, haunted parties with over-the-top décor, celebrity musical performances and perfectly themed cocktails.
This year, we were excited to attend what Guest of a Guest proclaimed to be one of NYC’s biggest Halloween parties of 2015. Saturday night we fell down the rabbit hole to the Hudson Hotel’s Through the Looking Glass party in celebration of the 150th anniversary of Alice in Wonderland. Once transported into this fabulously eerie dreamland, we danced the night away with Alice and the Mad Hatter to jams being spun by famed DJ, Samantha Ronson.
We know that an elaborate party calls for an even more elaborate costume, so we were sure to hit all our favorite thrift stores in New York to find the perfect pieces. We happened across two floor length dresses in red and white on our first stop (Goodwill in Chelsea) and quickly snatched them up. A bit of embellishing, accessorizing and some creative hair and make-up, and behold the Queen of Hearts and the White Queen, inspired by Tim Burton’s take on the classic film.
Thank you to Hudson Hotel and AIM Hospitality for having us!
