These days, there are very few avocado toasts I will pay for in NYC. To be honest, the only one I really believe is worth my money is the beauty at De Maria. You already know about the basic-basic avo toast (avo, egg, salt+pep, olive oil, lemon juice, chili flakes), but here are five ways you can up your avo toast game at home, so you never feel like you have to pay $15 for avocado toast at brunch again.
Of course Mike’s Hot Honey is my favorite avocado toast hack… because it’s my hack for literally everything I eat, from salad to ice cream. Just a quick drizzle of hot honey will completely transform your avocado toast, adding sweet and spicy to its flavor profile.
I love Majestic Garlic’s garlic spread because of its super clean label and because it’s so strong… you just need a little bit of it to elevate your avocado toast! This hack is also the only one I haven’t seen on avocado toasts in restaurant and café menus, so it’s an easy one to impress other people with!
So many different options here, but I’ve never had a pesto and avocado toast combo that I didn’t like! My favorite pesto is the one from Union Square farmer’s market!
Also a ton of different options here! My favorite hummus is from the people who make garlic spread, Majestic Garlic. They make Majestic Sprouted Hummus in a bunch of different flavors… sprouted means it’s better for your digestive system ☺ Definitely the cleanest and yummiest hummus I’ve ever bought!
Speaking of better for your digestive system… I love adding something fermented to my avocado toasts. Kimchi, sauerkraut, cheese (feta or goat is my fave for this)… It’s not for everyone, but I love the tangy punch it packs!
Feel free to mix and match these, and don’t forget to put an egg on it! Let me know what your favorite combos are!
