Just because summer is over *tears* does NOT mean you have to give up your mimosa habit. Thankfully, there are plenty of Fall-inspired mimosa options (sorry, no pumpkin recipes) that are sure to give you that little alcohol sweater for braving the dropping temps.
In case you haven’t heard (or seen), each Wednesday we host a segment on Spoon University’s Facebook Live where we sometimes we embarrass ourselves, but always have a great time! Each week we interview a different blogger from our Out Of Office NY Network.
Today, we are chatting with another dynamic duo from the NYC blogger scene who we have been friends with from the start – the stylish, now Brooklynite cousins and roommates Courtney & Kelly of Mimosas and Manhattan!
As two sets of 20-something roommates residing in NYC, you can imagine we have each had our fair share of mimosas! Below are the recipes for two Fall mimosas we made on the segment and some mimosa tips from Courtney and Kelly!
4 cups orange juice
2 (750 ml.) bottles Champagne, chilled
12 slices fresh orange, for garnish (optional)
Good Music is a must and a plethora of champs is obviously a necessity. Also you can’t go wrong with mini cheeseburgers!
What is the best food to pair with a mimosa?
Obviously, the typical brunch food is always the go-to for “Mimosaing” (as we like to call it) such as omelettes, waffles, etc. But if you are slinging a few Mimosas back during lunch or dinner time, pair with a grilled chicken or salmon with a fruity glaze (grapefruit glaze is always delicious) as the sweetness of the glaze and the OJ really compliment each other.
Where did each of you go to college? And where did you have the best mimosa in that city/town?
[Kelly] I went to Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia and majored in History (of Mimosas…jk). Bordeaux had a pretty amazing Mimosa and Brunch menu to compliment! [Courtney] I went to Indiana University in Bloomington, IN and I only went to one bar really during college, Kilroys on Kirkwood, so yes, they had the best Mimosas! I could drink about 10 during Breakfast Club, tailgate mornings! Go Hoosiers.
What is the most interesting mimosa you have ever had?
Jack’s Wife Freda has a cantaloupe mimosa which is absolutely delicious. The taste is a little unexpected but worth trying!
As style gurus, where do you recommend shopping for the cutest mimosa glasses to use at home?
We have loved shopping for our kitchen/living decor, furniture and kitchen supplies on Fab.com. They have some really cute glassware that is very affordable! We are in love with a set we recently just got that say Yay! down the side. One of our favorite pre-game items.
Where is your favorite mimosa in Brooklyn & Manhattan?
[Kelly] In Brooklyn, we absolutely love Freehold and Battery Harris and tend to frequent the mimosa scene there. In Manhattan, David Burke Kitchen has a killer Mimosa. [Courtney] I am alll about the Mimosas at Miusa Wine Bar in Williamsburg, I swear just one has me a little tipsy. Also their ambiance is absolutely incredible! My fave Manhattan spot would be Arte Cafe in Upper West. Side Note: That is where Kelly and I came up with our name 🙂
Who has the best bottomless mimosa brunch? And why?
Randolph Brooklyn has a great bottomless brunch because it is the perfect balance between dope food and good refills. Usually when one is great, the other is lacking and vice versa.
