Hello Upper East Siders,
We’re coming to your neighborhood! There are a few reasons to hop on the Pelham Bay Parkway bound 6 train north of Grand Central. Maybe it’s the urge to put on that posh new outfit, the need to impress your hoity toity grandmother or to prove to your friend from home that your life CAN be an episode of Gossip Girl.
Regardless the need for a classy AF UES evening, we’ve got some ideas for you!
PART 1: Visit a cultural institution
We recommend the Guggenheim – the architecture is prime for Instashots that prove just how sophisticated you are by spending your Saturday at this world-renowned establishment. Plus, there’s usually one central exhibit which is easy to follow – no pre-planning necessary (unless you want to do a quick google search on the featured artist in order to drop impressive bits of knowledge).
PART 2: Upscale Dinner with Traditional Fare
We recommend Caffe dei Fiori: White table cloths, high ceilings with crystal chandeliers, wine buckets and upholstered high back dining chairs – that’s the kind of place you think of when dreaming of upper Manhattan. It has that quintessential UES vibe that will leave everyone feeling fancy. And, you can never go wrong with Italian cuisine!
PART 3: Evening Libation
We recommend Bemelman’s Bar at the Carlyle Hotel. This is a prime spot for doing some people watching. Elegant classic cocktails, live jazz and a gold ceiling – need we say more? Although beware the cover charge – $15 – $35 depending on the day of the week – more details here.
