Last week, thanks to Blue Apron, we took a break from our usual dinner options of avocado toast, scrambled eggs, rice cakes with peanut butter or popcorn and indulged in what we like to call “real” meals. For those of you who don’t know – blue apron is a busy New Yorker’s life saver. Fresh ingredients are delivered straight to your door in a refrigerated box, and everything is pre-measured and labeled, (ensuring that you can’t accidentally add too much vinegar, yuck!) Last week, blue apron was serving up steamed cod with pickled ramps (we had never heard of these before) & yu choy, hearty chicken salad with new potatoes, pickled rhubarb & goat cheese and our favorite dish (as we consider ourselves burger aficionados) the mushroom and swiss burgers with pan-seared fingerling potatoes.
Living in Manhattan comes with many luxuries, but abundant time and space aren’t one. Instead of running around to a million grocery stores to purchase specialty ingredients such as coconut palm sugar, blue apron does the grunt work by shopping, measuring and delivering them to you. also, who has room to store a full bottle of soy sauce and a bunch of fresh veggies that will go bad?
We both had really busy work weeks, so it was nice to come home to the apartment and prepare delicious dinners while sipping on a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and listening to our favorite Pandora station.
If you want to feel like a chef but have a jammed packed schedule, blue apron is for you, and we are sharing a special discount! the first 50 readers to subscribe to our email newsletter (you can sign up on the right hand side of our page) get two free meals with their first Blue Apron Box!
