We love bikes! Even when the tire pops 85 blocks uptown…….which is exactly what happened a few weeks ago on a sunny Sunday afternoon.
We started off the day full of energy, grabbed a coffee and walked over to Chelsea where we picked up a couple of rented bikes. Word from the (now) wise – make sure you have snacks, a pump for your tires, lip gloss, and all the other essentials in the basket before take off! The bike rental should have all the tools you need!
Regardless – the ride up Hudson River Park was magnificent and the change in scenery kept it interesting! We made it to 95st street when we encountered our “bump in the road.” Erin’s tire got a hole and popped right off the wheel, but we planned to head up to the Cloisters and we didn’t want to give up…..so we walked our bikes all the way to the 191st street exit, up the stairs, and over to the cloisters.
After all that adventure and still in Manhattan (but barely) we we were exhausted and starving. Luckily we were right in the heart of the Inwood neighborhood with blocks of happening restaurants to choose from. We landed on Mamajuana – the ambiance was super festive and the food was beautifully delicious. They have a few other locations like the UWS and the Dominican!
